Center Outreach Assistant

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Center Outreach Assistant will assist the Center Program Department in the promotion of the Center at community outreach events.

General Responsibilities

  • Assist program department in identifying, contacting, and scheduling appropriate events for Center Outreach participation
  • Prepare materials and supplies needed for outreach programs
  • Assist program department in implementing outreach programs at off-site venues
  • Handle questions the public might have during community event regarding the Center and the variety of unique learning opportunities available.
  • Instruct the public on experimental archaeology lessons.

Qualifications

  • Must enjoy interacting with the public including children
  • Ability to communicate professionally the Center goals and Mission Statement.
  • Ability to handle multiple functions.
  • Ability to perform administrative operations as needed for position.
  • Experience using office machines and computer a plus.
  • Knowledge of San Diego history and archaeology and Center educational programs preferred.
  • Reliability, enthusiastic personality, honesty, friendliness and punctuality are of utmost importance
